Lab Review and Inspections
All laboratory users and those perfoming experiments should perform visual self-inspections of their labs. All work areas should be clean, safe and uncluttered. Chemicals should be labeled and stored correctly. You should always take special safety precautions and promptly report any unsafe conditions to your PI, laboratory supervisor, safety coordinator and/or building manager
Your Safety Coordinator also conducts both weekly and monthly laboratory inspections. This is important, as to better identify and address potential safety and health issues, as well as to comply with regulations.
Inspections are an opportunity to review general lab housekeeping, chemical storage, /hazardous waste materials, waste accumulation, and the testing/review of safety related equipment (eye washes, fume hoods, etc.)
