Our group focuses on coupling advanced synchrotron X-ray characterization techniques to conventional characterization methods to better understand the formation, function, and ultimately the degradation of a wide variety of materials. When possible we work in close collaboration with theory to better inform our experimental design and understanding.  Using this approach we focus in 3 main research areas:

  1. Developing and using operando techniques for characterizing novel solar absorber materials  
  2. Coupling theory, synthesis, and characterization for new functional materials discovery
  3. Advanced characterization and forensics to improve solar module materials durability
